2017 / USA / Narrative

Jill (Marianna Palka) begins to crumble under the weight of her suburban house-wife lifestyle; her children are ungrateful, her husband Bill (Jason Ritter) unfaithful and her own sense of self begins to disappear. Yet Jill has one simple cure for her unhappiness: to become a dog. Will Jill’s family continue to keep her on a short leash or will they fix their own bad behavior? BITCH dives headfirst into the surreal, manic, funny, absurd, tragic, painful, and oh-so-beautiful world of family life. Gently overlapping emotional drama, dark comedy and touching on the edges of psychological horror, the film is a pointed look at societal expectations and the ways we act out against them. Palka’s fourth feature continues to prove the truthful, eccentric originality in her voice and the massive range of her acting ability; from loving mom to snarling canine.
