2017 / USA / Narrative
When two sisters suspect their father is having an affair their idea of family begins to crack but their own bond grows even stronger in this offbeat domestic comedy. Newly engaged Dana (Jenny Slate) finds her own fidelity tested, younger sister Ali (Abby Quinn) dangerously acts out, and their career driven mother (Edie Falco) watches as her marriage and husband (John Turturro) slowly erode away. Set in early 1990s Manhattan, LANDLINE is a melancholic yet positive story of a not-so-distant past; a lingering memory of suspenders, pay phones and zero dating apps. Co-Writer, Director Gillian Robespierre, Co-writer Elisabeth Holm, and Actress Jenny Slate reunite after their indie hit OBVIOUS CHILD (2014) crafting a distinct viewpoint that speaks to the immutable force of friendship, family and female.
